After we parted ways with Justin’s mom, we were going to take the train from Geneva, Switzerland to Strasbourg, France and continue north, but that proved to be expensive and a bit difficult logistically, so we opted to skip over France to fly to Luxemburg City. From Luxemburg City, we then trained it to Brussels. This moved up our original itinerary by a few days, and one advantage to doing so was that we unexpectedly arrived in time for their biannual Flower Carpet event. This truly added to the beauty of the Grand Place (central square), a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating mainly from the late 17th century, which just may be our favorite square in Europe. The buildings surrounding it all have amazing architectural details. Also, Brussels was where we discovered waffles with crème. The best price we found for this delectable indulgence was only 2€!
