Zagreb, Croatia: Capital City and Cafe Capital
Europe has a wonderful cafe culture that doesn’t exist in the U.S., but Zagreb takes it to a whole other level. This Croatian capital city of just under 780,000 people must have the same number in cafe seats. Strolling these streets will make you wonder if anyone has time to work, so we did as the locals do and enjoyed sipping up to three cappuccinos throughout each day of our stay. Unlike cities on the Dalmatian Coast, though, Zagreb doesn’t see the same hoards of tourists as, say, Dubrovnik, which makes this gem of a city feel a bit undiscovered by the rest of the world. For the best people watching and carefree lounging the days away, Zagreb is an absolute must. From here we rented a car to drive into Ljubljana in Slovenia.
