Before embarking on our adventure, Minh scoured the blogosphere to figure out which European cities to visit. One place that multiple people absolutely raved about was Kotor. This turned out to be another example of how expectations and reality can be two very different things. Don’t get us wrong: Kotor is a beautiful city… but not necessarily one we would return to any time soon. When comparing Old Town to Old Town, Kotor doesn’t sit directly on the water the way Dubrovnik does. Kotor is also a maze of narrow alleys that often smell of sewage, whereas Dubrovnik is spotless and better navigable. It was fun, however, to climb the ancient city walls, which stretches three miles, and being rewarded with some spectacular views of Kotor and the bay.
